Days 13-15… The End.
It’s over.
And I’m really excited (although I did miss one scheduled workout). I’m DONE with my first challenge ever and all I can say is that I’m overwhelmed with a sense of quiet pride in myself. I remember saying, at the beginning of this challenge, that I wanted to practice making and keeping promises to myself.
I’ve lost pounds and loads of inches, and my pants are getting looser and looser. COOL! What’s more, I can now fit into a pair of ultra-cool skinny jeans that I purchased in mid-2008, and other pants that I last wore in 2006. How’s that for COOL???
I’ve also learned many lessons through my first 30-day challenge. I understand myself allot better- especially how I approach large tasks. Previously I was overwhelmed with the bigness (if that’s a word) of the tasks placed before me. I didn’t know how to break them down into manageable pieces that my mind could wrap itself around. For me, gaining strength and losing weight was a LONG exercise that I thought would take years and years. I couldn’t handle all that nonsense and so I stalled, magnificently adding pounds and tires around my waistline without learning how to deal with the source of the problem and not its symptoms. Now, after facing the task with a plan and a goal of completing something within a month, I now understand what exactly it means to be disciplined and stay the course, no matter what. I now know how strong I am, and how strong I can be- be it physically or otherwise.
Personally, the best and most important lesson I’ve learned is how to approach my fears. And yes- I have lots of them. With constant determination and accountability (via this blog), I’ve faced a huge fear that I’ve had for almost 4 years and I’ve conquered it! HALLELUJAH! And what’s better- I know how!
So that’s me, now. I know that I need to post up actual results. Those will come at the introduction of my next challenge- incorporating aerobic training into my anaerobic workouts and also focusing on excellent technique. With allot of help from a few trainers and body-builders in my gym I understand the correct technique to use while lifting weights. If it means scaling back the amount of weights I’ll use, so be it. Posture is more important than lifting heavier weights, since you can throw your back or sprain a thigh muscle if you use the wrong technique to lift or pull.
So that’s that from me… for now. Tune in for the second challenge later on this week. And remember- do something amazingly wild and crazy with your one precious life.
